StartingwiththeleadingperformancefromthefirstdivainMexicancinematographyaccordingtosome(AndreaPalma),withoutforgettingDomingoSolerwhoalsomakesagreatcontributiontothecastinthisfilm,thenthegreatstrengthoftheplotandthemasterfuldirectionbyArcadyBoytler.Allinallthismoviecannotbeconsideredlessthanexcellent.Soyes,maybesomeofthescenesdon'tresultquitethewaytheyshould,butmostofthemdo.Particularlythescenefromthecarnivalatthebeginningofthemovieandthelastscenebringyoutothevergeoftears.Yesitalsomanyelementsofacatholicmoral(Rosariolivesinguilt,herwayofpayinghersinsisbymeansofsacrifice),butwehavetoconsiderthemoviewasreleasedin1934andtheMexicansocietyofthetimehadthosevaluesdictatingourlivesand,weatherwetakethisintoconsiderationornot,Ithinkthetheplotisreallyreallytoughandthethemeverystrong.Maybenowadayswehavemanymovieswithplotsthataretwiceorthriceastough,butIthinkthisisstillagreat,greatmovieandhasnosoapoperacanneverevenremotelycomparewithit.Also,itisoneofthefirstmovieswithrecordedsoundintheMexicanfilmindustry.
